Guerin Woods Updated Visitation Procedures and Schedules

Dear Guerin Woods Families & Friends:

 

Please find below updated visitation procedures and schedules.

 

1. Schedule & Location (presuming no intervening positive COVID-19 test results!)

Sunday	2 – 4 pm

 

2. Effective October 13, 2020

2. Length & Frequency of Visitation – In order to permit all elders to have an opportunity to participate in visitation, elders are permitted three, 15-minute visits per week.  If an elder’s family would like to be considered for more than three visits per week, Guerin Woods will gladly evaluate requests on a case-by case basis based on availability in the schedule. 

 

3. Scheduling - In order to ensure appropriate staffing, visitation must be scheduled no less than 48 hours in advance via “Simply Book Me”,  https://guerinwoods.simplybook.me/v2/. You may schedule visits on a two-week rolling basis. 

Should you need to cancel a visit, please do so as soon as possible via the “Simply Book Me” application to make your time slot available to another family.

 

4. Visitation Procedure –

 

**we cannot allow entry if your responses or BODY temperature indicate a risk of exposure.  Likewise, indoor visits will be cancelled for those who do not properly complete and timely submit documentation of covid-19 testing and training.  Please ensure these items have been taken care of before you come to campus.

 

5. Visitation Restrictions

 

1. All visitors must be 12 years of age or older;

 

2. A mask must be worn at all times;

 

3. Guerin Woods has installed social distancing barriers, which must be respected at all times;

 

4. Alcohol-based hand rub is available on the front porch of each Villa, which must be used before and after each visit;

 

5. Additional Indoor Visitation Restrictions

 

1)         Number of Simultaneous Visitors: No more than 2.

 

2)         Testing: Indoor visitors must be tested for COVID-19 and provide to Guerin Woods negative test results on a weekly basis. If the test date is seven or more days prior to a scheduled visit, the visit must be cancelled.  With regard to weekend visits, test results must be provided no later than noon on the prior Friday.

 

3)         Education & Adherence to Infection Control: For those who have not already done so, indoor visitors must complete Guerin Woods’s COVID-19 training prior to their first indoor visit.  Indoor Visitors must also follow and will be asked to affirm at each visit compliance with infection control practices.

 

6. Compassionate Care Visitation - Compassionate Care Indoor Visitation is limited primarily to end-of-life situations.  Guerin Woods will also consider Compassionate Care visitation for elders who (a) meet objective, clinical criteria indicating a meaningful decline in their psychosocial wellbeing and (b) have not or cannot benefit from other forms of visitation.  Guerin Woods will proactively contact the POAs of elders who meet these criteria.  If you would like to contact us regarding the possibility of compassionate care visitation, you are welcome to do so by sending an email to guerinwoodsvisitations@pssmsi.org.  Please know that we will assess any such request on a case-by-case basis, based on a set of objective criteria.  Those who are approved will be instructed – as appropriate – regarding visitation scheduling, duration, frequency, location, and other restrictions, such as training, COVID-19 testing, etc.

 

7. Facilitated Phone Calls & Video Chats - Please call your elder’s Villa on the day you wish to have your call or video chat to confirm the availability of staff.  Please know that our staff remain very busy throughout the day, and they may ask that you be flexible regarding the time and length of your call or video chat.  Individual CNAs cannot commit to staff availability other than their own because they do not know what the demands may or may not be on another shift or when they are not working.

 

8. Closed Window Visits - Please continue your closed window visits!  Risk-free.  Mask-free.  ...and no social distancing required!
