Dear Guerin Woods Families & Friends:
All of our elders have been tested (and some retested) and none are positive for COVID-19! What a relief. Accordingly, Outdoor Visitation and very limited Indoor Visitation will be reinstituted pursuant to the guidelines below. I apologize for the delay, but our retesting requirements delayed our ability to restart visitation.
1. Outdoor Visitation

a. Outdoor Visitation Schedule for All Villas (presuming no inclement weather):
b. Location of Outdoor Visitation: Villa garden area.
c. Permitted Length of Outdoor Visits: 15 minutes.
d. Permitted Frequency of Outdoor Visits: Three per week.
e. Outdoor Visitation Scheduling Method: Please schedule your outdoor visits no less than 48 hours in advance using our "Simply Book Me" application, https://guerinwoods.simplybook.me/v2/. This allows us to ensure sufficient staffing to facilitate your visit. You may schedule visits on a two-week rolling basis. Only available time slots will be visible. You will receive email reminders of your visits.
Should you need to cancel a visit, please do so as soon as possible via the "Simply Book Me" application in order to make your time slot available to another family.
f. Outdoor Visitation Procedure:
At least 10 to 15 minutes before your visit, please check-in at the Administration Building, where you and anyone who expects to participate in Outdoor Visitation will be required to complete a "Restrictions Acknowledgement & Health Survey."
On weekends, please stop by the Administration Building; if there are no staff, you will find the necessary forms on a clipboard and be directed to leave your completed documentation at the Villa.
g. Outdoor Visitation Restrictions
i. All visitors need to be 12 years of age or older.
ii. Both you and your elder must wear a face mask during the entirety of your visit.
iii. You will be required to maintain social distancing during the entirety of your visit.
iv. You will need to use alcohol-based hand rub before and after your outdoor visit.
2. Indoor Visitation
Indoor Visitation will be limited to compassionate care visits (e.g., end of life visits) and those where an elder has both met objective, clinical criteria indicating a meaningful decline in their psychosocial wellbeing and found not to benefit from outdoor visitation, window visits, video chats, and telephone calls. We will proactively contact the elder's POA should they meet these criteria. If you would like to contact us regarding the possibility of indoor visitation, you are welcome to do so by sending an email to guerinwoodsvisitations@pssmsi.org. Please know that we will need to assess any such request on a case-by-case basis, based on a set of objective criteria. Those who are approved for indoor visitation will be instructed – as appropriate – regarding visitation scheduling, duration, frequency, location, and other requirements, such as COVID-19 testing (of each visitor), social distancing, etc.
3. Facilitated Phone Calls & Video Chats
Our CNAs are now facilitating phone calls and video chats (for those elders who do not have their own devices). In order to ensure the availability of staff, please call your elder's Villa on the day you wish to have your call or video chat to confirm the availability of staff. Please know that our staff remain very busy throughout the day, and they may ask that you be flexible regarding the time and length of your call or video chat. Individual CNAs cannot commit to staff availability other than their own because they do not know what the demands may or may not be on another shift or when they are not working.
4. Closed Window Visits
Please continue your closed window visits! Risk-free. Mask-free. ...and no social distancing required!
